Little Women

The four March sisters Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy live in New England with their mother, while their father has been drafted to fight in the Civil War. The girls embark on a series of adventures and endure a number of unexpected misfortunes and experiences that allow their personalities to emerge.  Book 1 of series.

Three years have passed and the American Civil War is over. The men have returned home, Meg is to be married and the lives of the March sisters are as full as ever.  Book 2 of series.

The third book about the March family is set at Plumfield School, which is run by Jo and her husband along the lines of the educational theories of Alcott's husband.  Book 3 of series.

In the final book about the March family, the further adventures, successes, and failures of the young men of Plumfield school are recounted. Book 4 of series.
